你是否對膝蓋撞到後是否需要跑去急診就醫檢查還是可以等到隔天再去門診？到了急診後是否需要照 X 光來確定有沒有骨折？關於這些問題可以用簡單的 Ottawa Knee Rule 來做一個初步的自我評估。
Ottawa Knee Rule
只有在以下任何一項結果為陽性時，需要安排 X 光檢查：
年齡 > 55
只有在髕骨（Patella）處有壓痛
在腓骨頭（Fibula Head）有壓痛
無法彎曲超過 90 度
在受傷後無法行走四步（無法分別在不同腳轉換重心兩次），即便一跛一跛也無法
Ottawa Knee Rule 是在 1995 年的時候提出，比 Ankle Rule 稍微晚了一點。這個檢測工具同樣有著高的敏感度約 100 %（Sensitivity） ，所以很適合當作篩檢的工具，大約可以減少急診 X 光的 30 % 的使用率。 此外，Knee Rule 在小孩身上的使用也和大人沒什麼太大的差異，相較之下，Ankel Rule 的敏感度在小孩身上就比較差了。
